Where is Higuerón Lodge located?
We are located in Bajos del Toro, Sarchí, Costa Rica, in the heart of one of the country's most beautiful mountain destinations.
Part of the experience includes fresh mountain air, birdsong, rivers, waterfalls, and the peaceful atmosphere that makes the area so special.
Is Higuerón Lodge a hotel?
Higuerón Lodge is a vacation rental property operating under the Airbnb model. We offer private cabins and self check-in, but we do not have a reception desk or provide traditional hotel services with 24/7 staff.
How many cabins are there?
Higuerón Lodge features three private cabins: Colibrí, Quetzal, and Oropéndola.
Can there be rain or fog during my stay?
Yes. Bajos del Toro is known for its lush cloud forest environment and changing mountain weather.
Rain, fog, and cooler temperatures may occur throughout the year, especially during the green season.

What time is check-in?
Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is at 11:00 a.m.
Is early check-in available?
Yes. Early check-in from 12:00 p.m. is subject to availability and has an additional cost.
Is late check-out available?
Yes. Late check-out until 2:00 p.m. is subject to availability and has an additional cost.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please refer to the cancellation policy associated with your reservation at the time of booking.
Getting Here
Do I need a 4x4 vehicle?
No. A 4x4 is not required under normal conditions. However, due to the mountainous terrain and steep roads, some guests prefer larger vehicles for added comfort.
Is there public transportation to Higuerón Lodge?
No. There is no public transportation available to Bajos del Toro.
Is Uber available in Bajos del Toro?
No. Uber and ride-sharing services are generally not available in the area.
How far is Higuerón Lodge from SJO Airport?
Approximately 75 minutes by car via Sarchí.
Property & Amenities
Do you allow pets?
No. Pets are not permitted out of respect for the surrounding natural environment.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes. All cabins offer complimentary Wi-Fi.
Is breakfast included?
No. All cabins feature a fully equipped kitchen for guest use, and several restaurants, cafés, and local dining options are located just minutes from the property.
Do you provide parking?
Yes. Complimentary on-site parking is available for all guests.
Which cabin has a jacuzzi?
Only our Colibrí cabin features a private outdoor jacuzzi.
Nature & Surroundings
Are there restaurants nearby?
Yes. Several restaurants and local cafés can be found within minutes of the property, including La Terraza del Café and Blue Morpho.
How close are the waterfalls?
Many of Bajos del Toro's most popular waterfalls, including Blue Falls of Costa Rica and Catarata del Toro, are located just 10-15 minutes from the property.
Is there wildlife in the area?
Yes. Bajos del Toro is known for its rich biodiversity and birdlife. It is common to see birds, monkeys, and other wildlife throughout the area.
Will I encounter insects?
Our cabins are professionally cleaned and regularly treated, but because we are surrounded by forest and nature, occasional insects are a normal part of the experience.
Can there be power or internet outages?
As with many rural mountain destinations in Costa Rica, occasional service interruptions may occur due to weather conditions or factors beyond our control.
